Summary/Abstract: This study analyzes the dystopian reminiscences outlined in the Romanian contemporary film, by exploring the cinematic work of three directors belonging to different generations (Mircea Daneliuc, Lucian Pintilie and Cristi Puiu), who assumed, to a greater or a lesser extent, the tenets of miserabilist neorealism – an “ism” that gained currency in Romania after the collapse of the communist regime.
