Summary/Abstract: The current article provides a methodology focused on the assessment of environmentalfactors after termination of military activity and uses a former missile base as an example. Theassessment of environmental conditions is performed through an evaluation of the risks posedby the hazardous chemicals contained by underground and surface water sources and soil tohuman health . Moreover, by conducting deterministic and probabilistic risk assessments, thearticle determines that the probabilistic assessment provides more accurate and qualitativeinformation for decision-making on the use of environmental protection measures, whichoften saves fi nancial and material resources needed for their implementation.
