Summary/Abstract: The author presents the theme of the living as a thread, which runs through the works of Bastide and Bataille. The featured researchers both link the theme of the living to the topic of experience (vecu). Once acquired, experience appears constructed in two different ways in the work of the researchers: the former concerns himself with the "wild sacred" and the "tame sacred" (Sacre sauvage u Sacre domestique), while the latter - with "mystic atheism" (Atheisme mystique) and eroticism. Bastide studies with passion, but also with lucid clarity, transformations in the others. Bataille, for his part, experiments within himself in a dramatic fashion, through the mediation of a link called by him ’ideational unity’ (communiel) or "sacrificial readiness" (sacrificial). Both, relative in independently of each other, conduct an experiment in which the continuity of life enters in opposition with knowledge based on discontinuity (culturalism and structuralism). The two researchers respond to this conflict with different answers. For Bastide the energy leads to internal enrichment (inflechir) and sophistication (complexifier) of the category, without actually rejecting it. Bataille bases his thinking on the type of energy ("heterologique") capable of superseding the category. Both researchers, as forerunners of the anthropology of life and the anthropology of the body are our contemporaries.
