Summary/Abstract: This essay examines consciousness from a Buddhist perspective, more precisely on the basis of the Karma Kagyü lineage of the Vajrayana system. It offers a useful summary on Tibetan Buddhist views on reality and the human mind, incorporating contemporary scientific approaches, which also tend to confirm some traditional tenets of Buddhism. Finally, the text concludes with a recommendation to practice meditation, as a method much better suited to experience the fundamental nature of human consciousness beyond concepts than theoretical discourse.
