Summary/Abstract: The study reported in this article is focusing on the column „Ohlas“ in periodical Slovenské ná- rodné noviny. Reffered column was an organic part of this periodical and in this way had provided room for advertisement. Naturally, column „Ohlas“ had provided room for cultural, educational and edifying organizations, and also for various writers, publishers, book printers, painters, pianists, dressmakers, barbers who had advertised it ́s products and services. Ľudovít Štúr, editor-in-chief at Slovenské národné noviny, proved to secure admirable amount of readers and contributors thanks to his organizational skills. His temperamental effort on improvement of the periodical came through in succesfull impact of column „Ohlas“. Thanks to this column, the periodical had initiated the chance for advertise the products and services in maternal language of mayority of its readers – in Slovak language.
