Summary/Abstract: In the article is discussed the influence of the German idealism on the thinking of Ľudovít Štúr. We can see in Štúr ́s worldview three planes: the first is theism and Protestant religion. The second plane presents his philosophy of history. Štur took over many ideas of Herder ́s and Hegel ́s philosophy and added the Slavic context. The most original thinker is Štúr as a linguist. He described Slovak language on the basis of modern linguistics.
