Summary/Abstract: For Slovenia since the mid-eighties has been characteristic a pluralistic atmosphere with a strong civil society, alternative culture, the gradual emergence of organized opposition in the form of association, the predecessor parties (from 1988 onwards) and the reformist rule, whose symbol was the president of CK SKS Milan Kucan. The transition to a multiparty system and the implementation of the first elections were consensual and legal carefully planned, a consequence of the decision SKS on the way down from power and the agreement with the opposition. The attitude toward Yugoslavia was ambivalent: he went by the desire to reform to seek a peaceful path to independence.
