Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the national identity of Czechs living in Pest in the second half of the nineteenth century assessing their degree of integration within the Hungarian environment and their involvement in the Czech national movement. The article is structured around three case studies, Josef Homolka, František Novák and Rupert Pšecechtél and examines their scholarly, cultural and political activity.
