Summary/Abstract: Innovation is becoming a fundamental tool of competitiveness of firms and economies. It is especially relevant in research intensive branches. Chemical industry belongs to one of the most innovative branches in Hungary. As innovation requires significant financial and knowledge resources company co-operations are crucial in carrying out a successful innovation by minimizing the costs and risks in the process. With the increasing number of collaborations the types and modes of co-operations are proliferating as well.
