The Origin Of The Names Of Old Belgrade Taverns And Cafes

Summary/Abstract: In this paper author discusses the origin and the names of taverns and cafes in Belgrade during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The text analyzes the genesis called the names of tavern and inn with aspects: social events at the time of its creation, the names of the owner-bosses, locations-locations where the opened-emerging, nacinal- nom awakening-release, the poetic inspiration. The author emphasizes the importance which taverns had (the parliamentary session, the first book fair, balls, the first theater performances, painting exhibitions, the first film, sport events, various offices of the association, party meetings, lectures, and even school lessons), their institutional role, the place where many important decisions in the the field of social and economic life were made. The paper is based on the primary research of archival material and con- tent analysis of documents (available material from personal archives), and publica- tions from author`s private archive.
