Summary/Abstract: The author of the article concentrates on the relationship between the father figure, the law of a father and political identities in a postcommunist and Western Europe. The argument is grounded in a psychoanalytical discourse, particularly in Jacques Lacan’s conceptualizations (and his followers), concerning an imaginary and symbolic order, an incoherent symbolic field and tension between an ideal ego and ego ideal.
