Summary/Abstract: This article is a portrait and a biography of Ov.S. Crohmalniceanu a Romanian critic of Jewish origin who in the years when communism was spreading within the Eastern Europe embraced the new ideology and wrote on the "socialist realism". Later as a critic and a professor at the Faculty of Romanian language and Literature of the Bucharest University he stood for a real and free expression on literature and helped a lot of talented students
