The book contents is the researches of the author in three areas: secular rituals, the secular religiousness and the Catholic religion, and manners of the sacred presence. The religious fact, according to Piette, is the commonplaceness of the religious life, happening between the faith and despair, the sacrifice and the protest or the rejection, the piety and the frigidity.
