Summary/Abstract: This paper is an analysis of the phenomenon of “making impressions” in recent Polish prose. Three very different examples have been selected: Jacek Dukaj’s "Perfect Imperfection", Wiesław Myśliwski’s "Last Hand", and Szczepan Twardoch’s "Morphine". Each of these authors uses a different poetics of making impressions in their texts. In the first case, we are dealing with the experience of alienation, which the reader must confront during the act of reading. In the second, the impression is generated by the “masterpiece” effect and “monumentality”. In the last example, the author tries to construct an attractive project relating to identity and politics. What connects these three authors is the existence of a dominant impression in their prose?
