Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the role of transport in urban agglomeration together with an analysis of transport in Wrocław. It shows the system of tramways and buses which is large but without a particular scheme. It also shows rapidly growing the Wroclaw Municipal Bicycle network which is an alternative to cars, but which needs the modernization of cycle paths. Then, the paper discusses the survey “Analysis of communication system in Wrocław” which shows that users are dissatisfied with the public transport and in consequence cars are perceived as the most effective way of transport. Residents are open to solutions other than private transport, but infrastructure is perceived as very bad. Furthermore, the article demonstrates solutions to similar difficulties introduced in Poland and worldwide like: underground, city rail and suburban rail, free public transport, car sharing and municipal bicycles, water transport, park&ride and traffic calming. Finally, the article points out the opportunities for adapting the aforementioned solutions in Wrocław, and outlines previous attempts of solving the problem that has appeared so far.
