Summary/Abstract: The main focus of the paper is on the new phenomena appeared during the past 5–7 years compared to thebeginning of the nineties, the restart stage of rural tourism in Hungary. It calls the attention to the mixed characterof rural tourism in Hungary, the family and household background of services and also the benefits of ruraltourism for the hosts. The paper describes the strange generation change and analyses the reasons andcircumstances of decline among rural hosts in the past 5–6 years and defines proposals for the future.
