Summary/Abstract: In my paper I focus my attention on the event of introducing "Lysistrata" by Aristophanes into Polish culture in the early 20th century. I would like to show the ways in which the translators (Edmund Żegota Cięglewicz, Benjamin Bickley Rogers) of this period tried to render the ancient comedy, its style and humour. In translations of "Lysistrata" we can notice their efforts to familiarize popular reader with ancient author and his work.
