Summary/Abstract: The aim of recent article is to outline the new image of the traveler represented in Jonathan Swift’s novel Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World, in Four Parts. By Lemuel Gulliver, First a Surgeon, and then a Captain of Several Ships best known as Gulliver’s Travel (1726). The specificities of the image in question will be clarified by exploring the framework of a new utopian topography, which reveals how given things begin to exist due to the practice of naming. Analyzing the genealogy of the aforementioned framework, we will explore how different topographies are inspired by two different models, namely, by the ones showing ‘how to do things with words’ and ‘how to do words with things’ respectively.
