Summary/Abstract: The essay describes the appearance of discourse analysis in political science in Western Europe. These analyses started in the 1990s, and have become an integral part of the discipline. Their foundations are connected to the linguistic turn of philosophy, and they represent the attitude of constructivist political science. They interpret politics as a meaning, and follow the pluralistic methodology of political reading. Discourse analyses have been conducted both about politics and policy. The essay introduces the most important tendencies and characteristics of discourse analyses. It concludes that discourse analyses have supplemented the traditional issues of political science, and have attempted to transform the interpretation of politics.
