Summary/Abstract: Ananda Galappatti observes permanent possibility of every day sexual abuse and violence that Tamil and Singhalese women, who have already survived some type of violence, face, and he proposes the use of term "invisible trauma", introduced by Maria Root to describe woman's acute consciousness that "security is very provisional" due to the very fact that she is a woman. Galappatti's claims enable linking of socio-cultural, political, and economical difficulties that women, who have survived the war, should overcome, along with the psychological difficulties. He also complains about the lack of organizations that would help self-actualisation of victims in Sri Lanka, and has negative opinion about the inclination of majority of counsellors to consider their clients "candidates for charity and pitty" and enthusiastically encourage and strengthen conservative cultural values. He regards that approach to "self-actualisation" might be of greater benefit for women, although its impact on women varies. He encourages the movement that exceeds "passive understanding of women's suffering".
