Summary/Abstract: Considering the upheavals in Eastern Europe the Yugoslav Space, once again, represents a "special case". Yugoslavia had been, for the quarter of a century, more open to the world than any other state in the sphere of the Soviet Union. Hence, it was in a stronger way exposed to the consequent challenges of democracy, cultural Freedom and market economy. Yugoslavia, therefore, seemed to be better prepared psychologically for the fundamental changes in society – yet, it has experienced, over the last twelve months, a terrible agony, it is rushing almost into a disaster in which everyone tries in vain to save himself.
