Summary/Abstract: Released in 2012, "In Praise of Love" by Alain Badiou is one of the key works on capitalism and the financial crisis. This book, interpreted so far from the position of its criticism of capitalism in the context of the paradigmatic changes caused by the financial crisis, reveals its diagnostic potential in relation to phenomena in other areas of the humanities after 2008 – including art. The book fits into the coherent philosophy practiced to date by Badiou, offering an analytical study of a “truth procedure”, for which Badiou provides a diagnosis drawn from the works of Plato and Lacan, as well as making reference to the “event”, a concept coined and used by this post-Marxist thinker. It seems, therefore, that the book "In Praise of Love" should be considered both in terms of the eruption of a process of truth that arose in response to the financial crisis in 2007/2008, and as a vehicle for discussing the crisis of capitalism and its conceptual structure.
