Summary/Abstract: This paper will focus on only a handful of diaries which exemplify the diary’s ability of saving the author, and thus becoming what I like to call the author’s personal hero. The examples used are: the diary of a famous European writer, the diary of a less famous Romanian writer, a little girl’s diary and the electronic diary as a special type of diary. In all cases approached the diary is the instrument of salvation for its author or for the character within, the latter being in most cases the author himself/herself.
