Summary/Abstract: When discussing myth, utopia and modernity, the first challenge one faces is in trying to decipher the nature of each of the concepts and the relations which govern them. The first temptation to avoid is to perceive myth, utopia and modernity as distinct realities which, though interfering with one another, are to be analysed independently. We consider that all of them are merely part of the same process and, more than that, an analysis would force us to acknowledge that each of them, in turns, can be a melting pot for the other remaining two. Another question the present paper aims to answer to is related to the immortality of the myth. Can a myth die? Can it be suppressed by modernity? If not, how does it survive, which are the mechanisms through which a myth distorts itself without altering its archetypal core irremediably?
