LIBRARIES IN THE EUROPEAN EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL POLICIES FOR INTEGRATION OF ROMA MINORITIES

Summary/Abstract: The article examines education policies in national integration strategies ofsix member states: France, Spain, Finland, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria.Education appears as the only means of optimal social integration of the Romapopulation. Political measures for preserving the Roma language, culture and enhancement of the cultural rights of Roma children have been considered. It has been presented a comparative analysis of educational and cultural objectives in the policies of the six countries. Libraries and their role in the integration process has been shown. Place of libraries in the national strategies of Hungary and Bulgaria has been defined.
