Summary/Abstract: Moving the Transylvanian governorate to Kolozsvár (Cluj) in 1790 boosted the social and cultural life of the city. Members of aristocratic families holding political or administrative positions started to build and rebuild residences to ensure their comfort during their stay in the city. These representative buildings of late baroque or classicist architecture define the aspect of the city center even today. My intention in this study is to present an image of the interiors of such residences. I try to outline the functions attributed to interior spaces by analyzing three furniture inventories of the age. These sources offer an interesting perspective on the lifestyle and interests of the owners. The general characteristics of the Hungarian aristocratic home can be found in the examples discussed, with more modest arrangements and spaces with multiple functions.
