Summary/Abstract: The aim of the work was to select Aspergillus niger strain for oxalic acid biosynthesis in periodic submerged culture with sucrose as carbon source. There were five A. niger strains tested: S, X, W78B, W78C and C12 in synthetic medium containing sucrose in concentration of 150 g dm-3 diluted with tap water. Cultivations were conducted on a shaker in 30°C. Medium pH was regulated at 6. The main parameter of strain selection was chemical selectivity of the process. The highest value of this parameter, 69.8%, was obtained in cultivation with strain W78C, where final oxalic acid concentration was 33.5 g dm-3, volumetric rate of product formation 2.39 g dm-3 d-1, and substrat yield 22.3%. Chemical selectivity in processes with other strains was between 46.5-60.9%. In conclusion, strain A. niger W78C was recognised as the best for oxalic acid biosynthesis from sucrose.
