Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the concepts of the coin and the bank note in their quality as cultural and linguistic phenomena. The understanding of Bulgarian native speakers, as representatives of Bulgarian linguoculture, about the nature and characteristics of the coin and the bank note have been analyzed based upon a variety of phraseological and other dictionary materials; the article figures out the reason why coins are more specific to Bulgarian native speakers’ recognition of the idea about money in general.
