Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to highlight the theoretical bases implied by the application of ethics in the domain of psychological practice. The text presents the central ideas of moral doctrines which inspired the construction of the deontological code and analyses the way in which its ethical principles, by which is defined the essence of the psychologist profession ethos (the principle of respect for the rights and dignity, for professional and social responsibility and that of integrity) influenced the institution of professional duties and of compulsory conduct rules for practice in the domain of psychology.
