Summary/Abstract: The preoccupation with the art of writing has a long-established tradition both inside and outside the academia. From writers to literary critics, from cultural theorists to university professors, a host of distinguished figures have contributed to producing a significant body of literature devoted not only to circumscribing the characteristics and driving forces behind the creative impetus itself, but also to discussing the diversity of possible connections with other topical areas of study (psychology, mathematics, cybernetics, philosophy, social studies, to name but a few) leading over the past two centuries to a series of multidisciplinary approaches to the subject.
