The role of transformational leadership in shaping employee innovative behaviors

Summary/Abstract: Growing competition forces companies to constatnly search for new sources of competitive advantage. One of its drivers is innovativeness; which is dependent upon; inter alia; individual innovative behaviors. The aim of the paper is to test the relationship between transformational leadership style and intensity of innovative behaviors in the context of organizational climate. On the basis of data gathered from 210 employees of 9 SMEs; analyzed with the use of structural equation modelling we conclude that transformational leadership style comprises an important predictor of individual innovative behaviors and organizational climate mediates this relationship.
