Summary/Abstract: Focal dystonia is a disorder whose main cause has been recently discovered. Although it might be genetical , the form of focal hand dystonia, which is analyzed in this article, is caused by several environmental factors. This type of dystonia is an affection characterized by the loss of the motor control upon one or several fingers.The musicians having practiced for years, playing an instrument, are the most affected by this disease. Focal dystonia may be caused by the repetitive finger movement over a longer period of time. This affection has been long known as "professional hand cramp"
