Summary/Abstract: I met her after I’d gotten out of the army, it was the worst winter I remember: packs of hungry dogs coming down from destroyed villages nearby, cruising deserted streets at night, attacking anything they could sink their teeth into. But those damned animals were not much different from us. We cruised the dives and bars, without a dime in our pockets, and sold our asses to all those UNPROFOR and EUMM soldiers and officers (we called them Ice Creamers because of their white SUV’s and tanks) and all other sophisticated marauders who’d hurried down to Slavonija to get their piece of a corpse. I myself handled about a dozen of them. The last one was called Bill, a colonel from Ireland. Perfumed, cultivated and round, a faggot like all the ones before him: the French, the Nepalese, the Hungarians, the Argentineans.
