Summary/Abstract: The protection of archives and current records in emergency situations is very complex and should not happen accidentally and randomly, nor should it depend on enthusiasm of an individual. It should be systematically prepared, comprehensive, and legally regulated. Only the existence of a reliable protection plan and the action of various teams of experts in the rescue process can ensure timely and adequate reaction during a catastrophe, as well as rescue of endangered documentation. In order for the protection plan in emergency situations to be effective, it is necessary that it be based on legal acts. The Law on Emergency Situations came into force a few years ago, The Law on Archives and Archival Service is in process, while a new Law on Cultural Goods is currently being drawn. The laws are being altered and amended for the purpose of modifying them against other laws, achieving better legislature, and making up for the confirmed losses. Moreover, there is a possibility and obligation to create bylaw regulations that define and regulate every problem that has to do with the protection of archival material in emergency situations in particular. There is a possibility of creating bylaw regulation that will protect the archives and current records in emergency situations in the best possible way. It’s our turn!
