Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to demonstrate that lexical parts of speech in contemporary Bulgarian (nouns, adjectives, numerals, verbs, adverbs and pronouns) possess as isolated lexemes extrasentential semantic roles such as Agent, Patient, etc. In a sentence a given lexeme can preserve its extrasentential semantic role or it can be assigned a new semantic role depending on the lexical meaning of the finite verb and on the lexeme’s syntactic position.
