Summary/Abstract: In September 2008, a coalition of organisations submitted a communication to the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, Department of Executions, to highlight that despite changes in legislation and a landmark ruling from Europe’s highest court, racial segregation of Romani children remains a fixture of education in the Czech Republic. The communication, submitted jointly by the European Roma Rights Centre, the Roma Education Fund, the Open Society Justice Initiative, and the Open Society Institute’s Educational Support Program and Early Childhood Program, outlines in detail actions which are urgently needed by Czech authorities in the implementation of D.H. and Others v. the Czech Republic. The full tex of the communication follows here.
