Summary/Abstract: In this article we want to analyze the concepts of identity and multiculturalism, particularly with reference to the British context. In this regard, we present a brief analysis and display on historical view, as being emblematic of the issue exposed. Multiculturalism is considered as the only solution for the reconciliation of the two perspectives: Englishness and Britishness. Multiculturalism tries to solve the old syntagma of "us and the other " by replacing it with a slightly different approach to this age old relationship. Contemporary multiculturalism appears as a form of cultural or rejuvenation, which is necessary for any given culture to continue existing.
