Summary/Abstract: The present text “Difference and Tolerance” discusses the concept of tolerance, which appears in the modern European history and its critical argumentation at that time, which tries to justify the tolerance on the grounds of some impersonal transcendent. The central thesis of the text is that the tolerance could never be universally exercised, towards everyone and everything. When we tolerate someone or something it always happens at somebody else’s expense. It is impossible all differences to be privileged at the same time and a position that claims to do it is ideological one. This kind of ideology, which presents itself as pure objectiveness, imposes a firm intolerance on all kinds of personal engagements with positive actions in present, which can seek to change the status quo. A conclusion is that the content of the tolerance is concrete and temporary, because we cannot establish unilaterally what to be tolerating now, but it does always happen through fight for accepting certain differences instead some others. And this differences are acknowledged as long as somebody, who is engaged with there existence, has strength to stand up for them.
