Summary/Abstract: The study asses the efficiency of the legal and ethical norms regulating the right to privacy of public officials in relation to the concept of public interest. Part of a wider research, the study-case uses a test similar to the DIT (Defining Issues Test, adapted to the Romanian characteristics by referral to some of the most notable media ethics dilemmas of the last years, and it presents the results of this evaluation concluding on the moral reasoning of the journalists as determined by the relevant legal and ethical provision.
