Summary/Abstract: The article describes the history of collection, publication and study of the fishery and sea-hunting folklore of the White Sea Winter Shore. Chronologically, the research covers the period from the end of the XVIII century up to the present time. We identified 3 stages in the history of fishery and sea-hunting folklore study: local history, publications and research. The first stage involves eth-nographical and economical research of fishing and sea-hunting as a part of studying Pomors’ daily life. The first publications on the fishery and sea-hunting folklore texts and even their collections appeared during the second stage (the end of XIX century – 1970s). During the third stage (1970s – the present), folklorists studied different forms of fishery and sea-hunting folklore as a part of local traditions and local identity investigation. Furthermore, different research of certain genres pertaining fishery and sea-hunting folk-lore together with articles on certain local fishery and sea-hunting traditions continue to appear nowadays.
