The Ombudsman as an institution of control over power

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the ombudsman, which is procedurally simple and financially accessible institution, acting in the interests of citizens, as well as of the government bodies, increasing public confidence in the government. On the basis of competence and main activities of Ombudsman was concluded that there are three models of this institution: the executive ombudsman, the independent ombudsman and the parliamentary ombudsman. It is noted that the most widely used parliamentary ombudsmen with sufficient independence to control the executive branch and in the area of human rights. It was emphasized that the institution of ombudsman acts on the regional (the EU) and international (the UN) level
