Summary/Abstract: In the following paper, the author intends to discuss the possible implications of continuous distrust of political parties on the political and electoral activism in Serbia. More precisely, what are the ways and with what consequences may the long-term distrust of political parties (from 50 to 77% since1966) affect the electoral participation, which has been declining since 2008 (3.592.375 voters voted in 2014, which is 320.529 less comparing to 2012 and 548.801 less compared to 2008). Negative perceptions of political parties combined with low civic activism and low level of trust in the media and civil society carry a danger to the democratic processes as a whole, which is manifested through the decline of a belief that democracy is the only desirable form of government. A large amount of empirical data will be presented in the text, in order to focus the debate into current social and political context in Serbia.
