Summary/Abstract: The present paper deepens the research of the Romanian historiography on the economic evolution of the medieval domain, the focus being on the development of the economic branches and practices on the lands of the monasteries in Moldova, during the 15th and 16th centuries. A result of the research of the monastery domain as an economic unit bringing together different branches of production which provided to the local communities the necessary goods obtained from agriculture combined with rural handicrafts and trade outside the domain. Resorting to the existing documentary fund, the author proved that the plant growing, along with animal breeding, apiculture, viticulture, fishing and handicrafts represented the most important branches of the economic system of the monastic domain. The totality of taxes, obligations and agricultural exploitations, represent the base of the consistent, stable and legitimate revenues which allowed the functioning and the prosperity of the Moldavian monastic establishments in the 15th and 16th centuries.
