Summary/Abstract: The influence of Apollinaire is certain at Cendrars, which, in his turn, innovates and continues the revolution of the perception of the urban space. But the Surrealists profited the most from the Apollinairien heritage. Surrealism owes all, even its name, to Apollinaire who bequeathed to this current the violation of all traditional rules of metrics, prosody and punctuation, the urban inspiration, the taste for the daily chores and the exploration of the “depths of the conscience”, the new glance and the appetite for the general insurrection, plus a savage and unquenchable thirst for Modernity. The surrealist space keeps the characteristics of of the Apollinairien space, in the sense that it remains concrete and opened, observed in its daily aspects, but it is also the image of the dream and of the phantasms.
