Summary/Abstract: The following text represents the content of a lecture delivered at “Dunărea de Jos” University of Galaţi, on April 22, 2013, by professor Bruce A. Little, Southeastern Baptist Seminary, Wake Forest, NC, United States of America. In a clear and concise manner, he emphasises the key concepts which define the American model of the relation between religion and state, as well as the extremely important social role the churches play in the American society. The author emphasises the importance of the so-called “faith based organizations” and the support they enjoyed from some presidents, such as George W. Bush.
