Summary/Abstract: The article delves into the nuances of the analyses in the Bulgarian media and in the public opinion polling regarding the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and the response of the international community, including the operation “Desert Storm”, at a decisive for the Bulgarian society point – the beginning of the transition to democracy. The research is based on Bulgarian media, representative in type and number. The analysis proves that the Bulgarians were well informed about the different aspects of the conflict, and on the other hand, they made critical assessments of its complexity in addition to the conclusions of the necessity of a careful and differential approach concerning the problems in the Middle East.
