Summary/Abstract: The relationship between memory and history has become a recurrent theme of debate, especially after 1989. Therefore either their differences, their similarities or their complementarity have long been analysed by many scholars. The following analysis highlights four main perspectives, the most representative for both fields of study: subjectivity, fiction, constructivism, narrativity. It is according to these four key words that we will structure our observations regarding the way history interacts with and relates to memory, thus trying to demonstrate their inherent and inescapable connection.
