Summary/Abstract: The article aims at specifying the definition of phraseme. As the most crucial qualities the author enumerates the following: repetitive character of phraseme; opposition which refers to lexeme, since phraseme consists at least of two lexical units; lack of metaphor; evoking a certain, definite communicative and stylistic context of speech.
