Organic farming in the opinion of the inhabitants of protected areas of Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents original and yet unpublished analysis of the organic farming in protected areas of Świetokrzyskie Voivodeship in the opinion of its inhabitants. This region has a global system of protected areas that comprises nearly 65% of total land. The research was conducted among inhabitants who expressed their opinions in questionnaires and was based on their opinions concerning particular barriers and opportunities of development of organic farming. As the main barriers for the development of organic farming in communes of Świetokrzyskie Voivodeship, they mentioned: insufficient farms’ adaptation to the needs of ecological production and negative attitude of inhabitants to such a kind of production. They noticed, however, opportunities of the development with the help of agricultural consultancy system and self-government offices (especially commune offices).
