Summary/Abstract: The accomodational model of Jesuit missionaries, which was historically overcome, was the forerunner for the contextual/incultural model in today’s missionary practice. There are indications that a shift in the missionary model from the contextual/incultural one to the global/pluralistic one is needed. The question arises as to which features the new model would have? This paper deals with the development of missionary models from an ethnocentric to a contextual model. It also attempts to propose a set of characteristic features for an emerging missionary model for today’s globalized world.
